This project is a development of 23 one bedroom flats developed for a housing association. These are 100% affordable housing units for the social rental market. The site is located on the edge of ‘Penrith New Squares’ within the town centre conservation area. It is a highly visible but tightly bound site fronted by very prominent roads on three sides which includes the main arterial route into town. This was an existing brownfield site and contained a derelict and dilapidated building which had most recently been used as part of a car park and prior to that, a commercial garage. The flats were designed to make use of the limited space while working to guidelines to ensure sustainability and delivering maximum value for money.
