Walking the Ullswater Way - 22nd June 2023

22nd June 2023

The team at Manning Elliott have pledged to raise money to support local charity Cumbria Action for Sustainability (CAfS) throughout 2023. As Architects we are keen to support methods of improving the environment by promoting sustainable ways of living in our community and reducing Cumbria’s carbon footprint. We are very excited to be raising as much money as possible throughout 2023 to help the team continue this amazing work.

We have organised three challenges over the summer for our team to participate in. We completed the first challenge this weekend, which was to walk the Ullswater Way, a 24-mile route around Ullswater Lake.

After the recent heatwave we were a little nervous about walking in the blazing sunshine. Thankfully, the weather was on our side with slightly cooler temperatures, although rather clammy and a couple of showers. We set off from Pooley Bridge at 9am and headed along the southern shore towards Howtown. This was a busy stretch with lots of people completing the same challenge, in the opposite direction. We reached Glenridding in time for lunch where we re-fuelled and continued the second half, via Aira Force. After what felt like a long slog, we made it back to Pooley Bridge by 8pm and headed to a local pub for a refreshing drink. Other than a few blisters and minor aches and pains, we completed the first challenge and most of us even enjoyed it!

You can still donate as we are raising money throughout the year. All donations will contribute towards CAfS initiatives of reduce Cumbria’s carbon footprint. Any support you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Here is the link to our Just Giving page http://ow.ly/9xkW50NnSvX
