Helvellyn Hike Fundraiser
Challenge 2 for CAfS
On Sunday 6th August our team at Manning Elliott embarked on a journey up Helvellyn, to raise funds for Cumbria Action for Sustainability (CAfS), our nominated Charity of the Year. Our charity hike signifies our collective determination to support a brighter and greener future for Cumbria and beyond.
Having had to postpone the event twice due to the recent dreadful weather, we were all delighted to finally find a day with perfect conditions for the hike. The rain held off until the last five minutes, so we couldn’t have asked for better weather.
Our team took on this challenge not only to push our physical limits but also to push the boundaries of what we can achieve together as a team and the incredible views made the ascent all the more rewarding.
We started from Patterdale, ascending the long steep path to the “gap in the wall”, which was our first milestone. This was certainly the hardest slog due to the sheer incline. We scrambled over Striding Edge, using rock-climbing skills most of us didn’t even know we had, before reaching the summit and enjoyed magnificent 360 views across the Lake District. Our descent was via Swirral Edge and back down the path to Patterdale. We ended with a refreshing drink at The Inn on the Lake at Glenridding.
We extend our gratitude to all those who generously contributed to our cause. Your donations will directly support Cumbria Action for Sustainability's ongoing projects, empowering them to continue making a difference in our local community.
The Helvellyn hike marks the second challenge accomplished by our team. As we gear up for our upcoming 100km bike ride challenge through the Eden Valley, we extend an invitation to further support our cause. Your contributions can be made by following the link provided below.
