Pedalling with Purpose: Manning Elliott's 100km Charity Bike Ride
On 26th August 2023, our team at Manning Elliott completed the third challenge of the year - 100km Bike Ride around the Eden Valley. Our mission? To raise much needed funds for Cumbria Action for Sustainability (CAfS), our designated Charity of the Year.
While the team already two other challenges earlier in the year, this particular challenge proved to be the most demanding yet, thanks to the unforgiving weather conditions. As the day unfolded, we found ourselves battling against a downpour and a hailstorm.
Our journey was not without its share of unexpected obstacles. First, a snapped chain threatened to derail our progress, but thanks to Arragon's swift service, we were back on track. Then, we encountered a fallen tree blocking our path, requiring some manoeuvring with our bikes. And our third obstacle was a 100 cows blocking the road - a test of patience! They do say that bad luck comes in threes!
With the elements against us, the Manning Elliott team persisted with the journey, which stretched over seven hours.
