Since the global COVID-19 Pandemic the importance of green and outdoor space, both public and private, has never been more apparent in our everyday lives. Public outdoor space seeks to balance the built form and the natural environment providing space for movement and places to sit and contemplate. People who do not have gardens or outside space have descended on our public parks to support their physical and mental wellbeing. The project to develop and create a masterplan for Melbourne Park was conceived before the pandemic but in the aftermath it couldn’t be more important for the community which it will serve.
